StackTranslate KR<>EN Chatbot

The Koreapedia StackTranslate KR<>EN Telegram Chatbot will only work with the Telegram Chat app.

It provides persistent "Stacked Translations" (original text stacked above and translation sitting below) from English > Korean and Korean > English.

Write in either langauge and the bot will present the translation as the next message in the chat.

Telegram Global Users

Telegram is the world's third largest chat app after WhatsApp and WeChat with 1 billion MAU (Monthly Active Users) who exchange over 15 billion messages daily. KakaoTalk has 46.5 million MAU as of November 2025.

Telegram in Korea

2025 Korean Telegram users estimated at 4-5 million accounts and 3.5 million MAU. In 2014 Korean's dominant chat app KakaoTalk suffered a public backlash and mass exodus of approximately 2 million user, mostly to privacy focused Telegram, due to compliance with government requests and warrants to hand over users' chat records during investigations.

It is estimated that over 10 million bots are hosted on Telegram with over 1.2 billion monthly interactions.

StackTranslate KR<>EN Chatbot Cost

As of December 2025 the StackTranslate KR<>EN Chatbot is a free service until further notice. We plans to charge a small fee in future to support AI Translation costs.

INSTALL StackTranslate KR<>EN Chatbot

Install Telegram if you do not already have it.
StackTranslate will not work with one-on-one Direct Chats (DM). Make a chat group. Group minimum 2 members. Group maxium 200,000 members. Don't get carried away.
Invite @KoreapediaBot into chat group: 1, Click Group Name at top; 2. Click [Add Member]; 3. In [Search for people..] write @KoreapediaBot; 4. Tick blue circle with (✓).
StackTranslate KR<>EN Chatbot will automatically begin to translate.

Privacy

User data is not retained or linked to the user's identity after translation is complete.

Faults and Support

If @KoreapediaBot stops operating it may be because of a bot update. Some updates are seemless. Other updates may cause the bot to dissappear or fail to translate. In this case: 1. remove @KoreapediaBot from the chat group (only chat group "owner" can remove); 2. reinvite @KoreapediaBot back into the chat group. The updated @KoreapediaBot will join your chat group.
